Dear STM Families,
Happy Holy Thursday–the beginning of the Easter Triduum, the summit of our Liturgical Year. The students attended a ‘Shadow’ Stations of the Cross in Flanagan Hall today that was organized by Sr. Colette and acted out with the 8th graders. Please ask your child about that experience today. It was truly amazing! The times of each of our Holy Week Services at St. Thomas More Church are listed below. Please take a look to see if you can attend with your children. Our STM Children’s Choir will sing at 11 a.m. Mass on Easter. If you haven’t heard them sing at Mass, you are truly missing out. Those sweet voices give me goosebumps every time I hear them! I need you to know that we were able to resume regular recess spaces yesterday due to some action taken to assist our troubled neighbor. Please continue to pray for the safety of all involved. Our efforts to tighten security and safety practices are continuing. I will keep you posted on plans and advancements. May the joy of the risen Christ bring light and happiness to your family during this Easter season. St. Thomas More, pray for us. More info & registration: stmkc.com/summercyclones Tim Waris tim@stmkc.com Following are Lenten prayers you can share with your family for Holy Thursday (today), Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil Holy Thursday: A new commandment, you gave at the table, to love one another as you made us able. When we love one another, all will know it is true that we and our friends, indeed, follow you. So let us remember the commandment to love so the world becomes more like heaven above. Amen. Good Friday: When Jesus died that day on the cross all creation together sighed, “This is a great loss.” Time grew empty and the afternoon dark as the light of the world had not even a spark. The women stood by at a distance in tears wondering what would become of their fears. Fear not, the angels soon will say. Jesus’s death has given us the way. Amen. Holy Saturday: We speak few words this day that is hollow, this day that sighs with one great sorrow. We sit in the garden next to the tomb knowing that soon it will be a womb. Amen. Easter Vigil: Alleluia! Alleluia! We sing this night, joining heaven and earth that rejoice with delight. Jesus, our Lord, is risen today. God’s love and light is here to stay. Joining heaven and earth that rejoice with delight, Alleluia! Alleluia! We sing this night. Amen.
