Dear STM Families,
Thanks so much to our Booster Club and all of the parents who contributed time and resources for our amazing FUN DAY yesterday!  Special thanks, also, to Mrs. Miller, Mr. Dulle, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Prowell, all of the teachers & staff, and a huge SHOUT OUT to the 7th graders who helped to facilitate all of the activities!  Check out some pictures below!
 
Here are just a few details as we conclude our school year tomorrow:
- Please plan for your child(ren) to dress in uniform for the final shortened day of the school year.
- Yearbooks were passed out today or will be passed out tomorrow morning if you ordered one.
We have a few yearbooks remaining for purchase.  Please send $20 if you forgot to order one.  First come, first served!
- Students will attend an all-school Mass at 10:30 tomorrow.  There will be some extra room for parents to attend since our 8th graders have graduated (leaving those pews open for parents).
- All students will return to homerooms after Mass on Tuesday to receive their report cards, pick up yearbooks and any other materials, and give their final good-byes for the summer.
- Dismissal will take place immediately after that at 11:30 a.m. from the normal school exits.
- Our plans are in motion for another AMAZING school year in 2023-24!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to our STM moms and teachers!  You are the gentle guides who, through your love, help us to experience God’s love in our lives.  On Mother’s Day we give thanks to God for our Blessed Mother and our biological mothers (and grandmothers, aunts, cousins, and adopted mothers).  We are so thankful for you and your positive influence we see in your children.
 
My sincere apologies for this tardy edition of Cyclone Chatter.  Last night was the Graduation Mass and ceremonies for our 8th Grade STM Class of 2023.  Our church was packed with family and friends of our 49 graduates who gathered in prayer as they moved on from STM to make a difference in the world!
 
This ceremony marks the beginning of the end of our school year by bringing our whole school community together in celebration.  The All-School Mass on
Wednesday morning followed by an 8th grade walking parade was an incredible experience for all involved.  Students in our current 7th grade class were passed the mantle of leadership by the graduates in a touching “Passing of the Light” ceremony during Mass.  Then, each classroom in grades 1-7 cheered, chanted, and waved posters to honor and celebrate each of the graduates during their walking parade around our school.
The excitement continues with “Fun Day” on Monday–our version of a Field Day that’s a lot more fun!  Students dress in sunscreen, shorts, and t-shirts of a certain color so they are easily recognizable.  Here are the colors designated for each grade level to have on their shirts that day:
 
Kindergarten–red
1st–blue
2nd–Jesus Day t- shirts
3rd–green
4th–orange
5th–pink
6th–gray
7th–black (Our helpers for the day!)
 
Students will be dismissed at 1:00 on Monday!  (Rain-out day is Wednesday.)
 
NEW ADDITION THIS YEAR:  STUDENTS MAY BRING $5 TO FUN DAY TO TAKE 3 CHANCES TO DUNK A TEACHER OR STAFF MEMBER IN THE DUNK TANK! (all proceeds go to Meg Burke’s fundraiser for STM FOR ALL.
 
Students will clean out desks and lockers next week.  Please watch for information from teachers or grade levels regarding special instructions for bags or cleaning rags to handle emptying desks and lockers.  Teachers will distribute yearbooks on Thursday.
 
Next Friday is our last day of school.  We will gather together for an All-School Mass at 10:30 a.m. and students will return to school for dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
 
Teachers and students are working hard to make these final 5 days of school as positive, productive, and faith-filled as possible! Our students’ prayers for peace in the world continue.  Please pray with us!

Fr. Kleine will be hosting a server training session on Saturday May 20th at 9:15am! This session is available to all those entering 4th grade next year and up, be they new prospects to serving, or be they current servers who'd like to receive a refresher course.
 
Fr. Kleine will host a special server training for current 3rd graders during the school day from 11:00 - 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17th.  If you want your child to participate, you must contact Fr. Kleine (email below).

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Dear STM Families,
The clock is ticking and the days are becoming short for this school year–especially for our graduating 8th grade class.
 
Tomorrow we celebrate the wonderful tradition of May Crowning at STM.  This is an all-school prayer service during the month of May each year when we honor Mary as the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of Jesus.  Our 8th grade girls will lead the prayer service that begins at 2:30 p.m. in our church.  At the end of their prayers and our choir singing Marian songs, our May Queen will crown a statue of Mary with a wreath of flowers.
 
 This event is the beginning of the end for our 8th grade class who will celebrate their graduation Mass next Thursday, May 11 at 5:30 p.m.  They will also participate in a ‘Passing of the Light’ ceremony after their Final All-School Mass on Wednesday, May 10 at 8:15 a.m.  During the ‘Passing of the Light’ ceremony, the eighth grade graduating class symbolically passes on the light of leadership of the school to the seventh grade class.
 
On another note, the first meeting of the STM Safety Committee took place last night.  Twelve STM parishioners, parents, and staff members began the timely discussion of possible upgrades to our safety and security and how to pay for them.
 
 Please know that the mission and intention of these efforts is to provide the safest learning environment possible for your children.  I will keep you posted on updates as this committee continues their work.

DRAMA PROGRAM OFFERED AFTER SCHOOL:
Mr. Dan O’Connell, 5th-6th grade Social Studies teacher, is sponsoring an after school drama program.  The weekly classes will run for FOUR days--Monday-Thursday. The cost for the four days is $25.00.  If your child comes for one to three days, the cost is $10.00 per day.
 
Week 5:  4th grade only  May 1-4. Minimum enrollment: 4.  We will read the play Charlotte’s Web, do pantomime activities as well as other creative drama experiences!
 
Week 6:  1st and 2nd grade only:  May 8-11 Music, movement, listening to stories, telling stories, exploring all aspects of drama, what fun!
